Following the political crisis rocking Rivers State, a group, Simplicity Movement said it is solidly behind the governor, Siminalayi Fubara and would mobilise support for him to succeed.

The group which is under the leadership of a former governorship candidate of the Nigeria Rescue Movement (NRM), in the state, Sobomabo Jackrich, said the political will of the governor in tackling infrastructural development despite the political distractions and economic downturn attracted them to support him.

The group also warned that they would not fold their arms and watch some persons distort the progress the state is making under Governor Fubara.

Speaking on behalf of the group during the official opening of it’s office in Port Harcourt, the National Spokesperson of the group, Kelly Rufus said they are ready to stand with the governor in defending the interest of the state.

He said: “Despite the economic downturn, you have embarked on the most ambitious development projects in Rivers State which are realities before our eyes such as the Port Harcourt Ring Road Project now at an advance stage which is opening up new opportunities and transforming the economic landscape of Rivers State”

The group also lauded the governor’s strides in the healthcare sector saying, “Your administration is making strides in building general hospitals in the state alongside zonal hospitals showcasing your commitment to affordable healthcare for all.”

He declared that the overwhelming majority of Rivers people are with the governor, adding that no force internal or external can thwart their collective will.

The group’s spokesperson added: “We the Simplicity Movement and the good people of Rivers State stand solidly behind you and together we shall build a better future for all”.

Rufus, warned those sowing seeds of discord and anarchy, “That Rivers State is peaceful and thriving under the leadership of Fubara and we will not allow anyone to distort the progress we are making”.

The group commended President Bola Tinubu for not taking sides in the political crisis rocking the state.

Meanwhile the former Chief Whip of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Evans Bipi while representing Governor Fubara at the occasion thanked the group for the support.

Bipi who is the caretaker committee chairman of Ogu/Bolo local government area assured that thegroup would be carried along in the governor’s administration.

Bipi further urged the group to go out and mobilise others to join the movement to garner more support for the governor.

“Talk to your sisters, talk to your brothers to come out and join the train. It’s a movement not a political party. So talk to your people who are on the other side so that they can come and join the train,” Bipi said.

He assured that soon the leadership of the group would be harmonised to make it more formidable.
