Suspected Cultists have invaded the Edeoha community in Aboada East Local Government Area of Rivers State, killed five residents.

It was learnt that the gunmen suspected to be members of Iceland cult group invaded the community at about 2am Sunday morning.

Investigation revealed that the gunmen invaded the community with sophisticated weapons and assault rifles shooting sporadically and killed the victims at their homes.

Community sources disclosed that three of the killed persons are natives of Edeoha while the other one is native of Ekata community still in Aboada East LGA but resides in Edeoha.

It further gathered that in a resumed hostilities after the earlier reports of killing of four persons in Edeoha, abe Nwachukwu Daniel, a sand carrier was killed late afternoon of same Sunday at Ihuaba community close to Edeoha community.

Intelligence sources disclosed that the suspected cult members who carried out the killings came from a camp in a neighbouring community to commit the incident.

A native of the community who pleaded anonymity said the victims who were killed are not cult members.

He said the attack is believed to be have been carried out by cultists who may have been paid by mischievous persons to eliminate the four residents of unclear issues.

The Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer Grace Iringe-Koko who confirmed the incident to our reporter, said “Yes I can confirm the incident, is cult related”.

He said “The Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Mustapha has instructed the Ahoada Area Commander and the Divisional Police Officer(DPO) to commence investigation into the incident with a view to apprehending the perpetrators and making them face justice”
