Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara has revealed that the battle for the control of resources is the reason for the political crisis in the State.
Governor Fubara revealed this while speaking at a church thanksgiving service to mark the 51st birthday of Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere, the General Overseer of the Omega Power Ministries (OPM) and the church 18th anniversary on Sunday, at the church headquarters in Aluu, Rivers State.
The governor noted that the State’s resources belong to the people and must be used judiciously to better the lives of the people as well as improve development in the State.
He emphasised that the purpose of governance will be achieved as far as he remained focused and urged the church to continue to pray for his administration to be focused in working for the interest of the people.
“Continue to pray for us, so that we will not lose focus, because we know that the devil is always at work to derail people in government.
What we hold as most important is the interest of the people and I believe that with your prayers we will not lose focus. The purpose of governance will be achieved in our State.”
Governor Fubara commending Apostle Chinyere him on his birthday and his philanthropic deeds, donated the sum of N200million to support the completion of the ongoing church project.
“I am happy to be here, especially to celebrate this birthday with him. He has been a very strong supporter of our cause right from the time we started this journey, he has kept faith with us in prayers and I strongly believe his prayers and prayers of this church is one of the reasons why in the face of all our troubles we are still standing.”
The governor pointed out that the Clergy, has impacted humanity through his educational programme, adding that his administration will continue to support him in helping to advance growth and development in the State.
“Life is not all about taking, what is important in life is giving and anybody who believes in only taking that person doesn’t go far in life. For all you are doing for humanity, God will continue to strengthen you, we understand your contribution to humanity.
“Look at what you just showed me here. How many of our schools are still functioning to provide that level of training?. We met a dead system which we are trying to revive. But you are doing it as an individual, why won’t God bless you.”
He acknowledged that the prayer of the church has been a source of strength and sustenance for his government even in the face of the numerous challenges posed by detractors in the State.
The governor solicited for more prayers for his government to continue providing leadership for the people.
“We have come to tap more power for the defense of humanity in Rivers State. God will bless you all for your prayers and we assure you we will not fail you.”
Meanwhile, Governor Fubara also attended a birthday thanksgiving service of the Deputy Governor of the State, Professor Ngozi Odu at the headquarters of Salvation Ministries, in Port Harcourt.
