Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has expressed sadness over the death of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja.

Lagbaja died on Tuesday night, following a protracted illness in Lagos, at the age of 56.

In a condolence message, yesterday, Governor Fubara extended his condolences to the President Bola Tinubu, the Nigerian Army; and the bereaved family on this great loss.

The Governor noted that Lagbaja’s selfless service, sacrifices and commitment to the security, unity and progress of Nigeria was worthy of emulation.

He prayed Almighty God to grant his soul eternal rest and also give his family the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss.

Governor Fubara also congratulated Olufemi Olatubosun Oluyede on his appointment as the Acting Chief of Army Staff, and pledged the support of the government and Rivers people to enable him succeed in his onerous assignment.
