The Action Peoples Party (APP) has charged its 22 newly sworn-in council chairmen and 314 councillors to collaborate with the state government in order to provide good governance to the people in their respective areas.
The Rivers State chairman of APP, Sunny Wokekoro, gave the charge while congratulating the chairmen on their successful swearing-in, which took place on Sunday, by Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
Wokekoro emphasised that “as a party, we have asked the chairmen to work alongside the state government to bring development to the people.”
He said “We believe that meaningful projects require unity of purpose and vision; hence, the chairmen and councillors are duty-bound to work in synergy with the state governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, to develop the state.”
The Rivers State APP chairman also urged the 22 elected chairmen and 314 party councillors to prioritize transparency and commitment to good governance.
He further disclosed that the party will establish a team to monitor the performance of each chairman, noting that the party strongly opposes poor performance, mismanagement of resources, and any actions that do not align with delivering good governance to the people in the local government areas.
While congratulating the chairmen on their victory in the polls and subsequent swearing-in, Wokekoro assured the people that a new era of leadership prioritizing the needs of the people has begun.
