Key stakeholders from Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, have lauded Governor Abdullahi Sule for approving the siting of the ‘A.A Sule Legacy Multi-purpose Mini Sports Stadium’ in the area.

Nasarawa State House of Assembly Committee Chairman on Youth and Sports Development, Garba Isimbabi, alongside Chairman of Toto LGA, Yahaya Ahmed, expressed their gratitude during a ‘thank-you’ visit to the youth commissioner, Jafaru Ango, recently.

The proposed project was facilitated by the Toto/Gadabuke State Constituency Member, Isimbabi, after the governor approved it.

Nasarawa State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, the duo, praised the Governor’s unflinching commitment to youth empowerment and sports development in the State.

“We are here to show our deepest appreciation to the Executive Governor, His Excellency Abdullahi Sule, and to you, the Honourable Commissioner, for your tireless efforts in bringing this landmark project to our community.

“This stadium will transform the lives of our youth, promote healthy lifestyles and aid talent discovery”, stated Hon. Isimbabi.”

On his part, Chairman of Toto, Ahmed, assured the people’s full cooperation with the government and contractors to deliver the task at the stipulated period.

“This is a laudable project for the people of Toto Local Government Area and by extension, Nasarawa State and surrounding areas.

“We will ensure seamless land acquisition, foster community engagement and participation as well as provide necessary support during the construction work.”

Responding, Ango, said “This project symbolises Governor Abdullahi Sule-led administration’s dedication to youth and sports development. We will work tirelessly to ensure its timely completion.

“The Governor has also approved for the siting of similar facility in Gudi in Akwanga, Uke in Karu, Doma in Doma, Garaku in Kokona, Awe in Awe, and Keffi in Keffi respectively.

“Arrangements are being made to commence the groundbreaking ceremony for the Toto Mini Stadium before the end of this year(2024), while works on the remaining five will commence in the first quarter of next year(2025), all things being equal.

“We are forever grateful to our Governor who is a passionate sports personality and sees the need to empower our youth by building these legacy projects across the State.”

The Toto Mini Stadium will provide state-of-the-art facilities for various sports, including Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Tennis, Badminton, Handball and other indoor games.

Its scope of work include the construction of a standard 500-seating capacity football pitch, changing rooms, multi-purpose sports courts, a restaurant, and shops.
